Middle School Transition – another parent perspective
This one from Carolyn Evans, mom of 3 Opal graduates!
My first criteria was location. For all three children. I needed to be able to:
a. drop every one off and pick them up
b. be able to get their schools quickly if the need arose
My second criteria was looking at where each of my children were in their academic and social life and what they perceived that they needed.
Child # 1 – Wanted a large school with sports
Child # 2 – Wanted a more diverse group of students so she could fit in more
Child #3 – Wanted an exciting academic life
They all chose different schools. The bottom line is there is no one perfect school. All the schools have challenges. You just have to decide which challenges that you and your child are willing/unwilling to deal with.
