Susan was the Director of the Division of Teaching and Learning at Portland Children’s Museum which includes the Museum Center for Learning and Opal School.
She is a practicing teacher researcher who speaks to audiences at home and abroad on the rights of children within contexts for learning. She is a contributing author to In the Spirit of the Studio: Learning from the Atelier in Reggio Emilia, Language Development: A Reader for Teachers, the forthcoming Fostering Empathy through Museums, a member of the National Working Group for Make Education’s Makerspace Playbook, and a 2015 TEDx West Vancouver speaker.
Susan is mom to three Opal graduates.
