We hope you’ll choose to become a member of Opal School Online, where a growing community of teachers and parents are thinking together about the rights of children. While you are here, we ask that you follow a few basic rules:

  • Before you respond to another member through comment or on a forum, consider carefully whether it is a response that would feel supportive to you if you received it. Posts and comments will be moderated, but we are pretty certain that everyone here knows what respectful, kind and supportive feels like and reads like.
  • When in doubt — go into inquiry. Ask a question. Lean in to your own discomfort and try to be curious about it.
  • The groups and forums on the site allow members to upload photos and link to documents off the site. We are excited for Opal School Online to be a place where it is convenient and safe to share images and documentation of the work happening where you work with children. In general it is best not to include any images that make children identifiable. If you must include photos of children, make sure you have permission from their parents or guardians. Opal School Online cannot be responsible for the content of your posts.
  • Never post a picture of a child that also gives their name and identifies where they could be found. It is best to write about experiences with children using their initials or pseudonyms.
