Creating our homelands
Opal 3 is diving into its study of Oregon history by immersing themselves in the study of five tribes of Native Americans living along the Columbia River. For the past two weeks, the children have been deepening their understanding of where their different tribes live, pooling their research and imagining what they would see as "home" as a member of their tribe. After mapping out important geographical landmarks and important characteristics of the land and climate, the children began working with clay to create a section of their tribe's region.
